Ian Races the.... Maple Syrup Stampede St. Joseph's Island

Hi all,

I entered the Maple Syrup Stampede ski race today on St Joseph Island.  Idid the 7k classic event.  It was set in rolling farm land, through maple forests and open meadows.  I'm not as fast as the younger skiers (the 40-50year olds) but I managed to beat a few of the kids!  Afterwards we had afamily sit down pasta dinner in an old wooden church and cheered as the winners got prizes.  Maybe next year!!!

They're getting ready to tap the maple trees here and we should be in sugar
heaven in a few weeks!  Some of the race prizes were gallon jugs of pure
maple syrup (worth about $120 bucks!)  Its liquid gold for sure.

Sunny with clear blue skies for the race but a bit chilly at -11c.  I'm
gettin' a bit soft down here.  I managed not to hit any trees as there were
a good number of hills and corners.  Donna was spectating.  We've both
signed up for ski lessons at the club (even this old dog needs to learn new
tricks)

Still looking for a house and a job.
