ROBIN CLEGG CRACKS TOP-30 TO FINISH AS TOP CANADIAN IN BIATHLON WORLD
CUP AT WHISTLER OLYMPIC PARK
WHISTLER, B.C.—The veteran of the Canadian Biathlon Team, Robin Clegg who is a member
of the Quebec Ski Team, squeaked into the top-30 to finish as the best Canadian at 29th spot in
the men’s 20-kilometre individual start competition near Whistler, B.C. on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Clegg crossed the finish line less than three minutes off the leading pace at 52
minutes 51.3 seconds, despite missing three targets in his four trips to the range.
“I was skiing strong today, but I kind of misread the wind a couple of times and that cost me quite
a bit,” said Clegg. “The course is in magnificent shape. We have not seen a course like this the
whole season in terms of course preparation and track conditions.”
Brendan Green, of Hay River, N.W.T., and Regina’s Scott Perras, also hit the start line under
perfect racing conditions in the Callaghan Valley. A 22-year-old World Cup rookie, Green posted
a solid 46th-place finish at 53:48.9.
