John was a friend, a teacher, biathlon coach, an advance biathlon official, a member of the Elks, and played a major role with the NWT Track and Field Championships each year. 

John's involvement with the ski club goes back many years to when his son Brandon was in biathlon.  John became a level 2 biathlon coach, studied and became an advanced official in Biathlon.  He worked at the different biathlon ranges and races in the NWT.  He took a special interest in the range in Hay River and would tune the targets each year to make sure they were functioning properly. He worked as the range offcer at the biathlon races in Hay River.  John will be missed.
